Are Meditation and Mindfulness Dangerous?
When I began meditating in 1984, most people I talked to about it would stare at me blankly, then quickly change the subject or shake their head and walk away. These days, discussions of meditation and mindfulness appear everywhere from business and medical journals, to addiction and trauma recovery groups, to education conferences. In this article, you'll learn why so many are turning to these techniques and how to avoid common misconceptions, dangers, and potential pitfalls.
By recent reports, you might think meditation and mindfulness are a "panacea" (cure all) for everything that ails you. Programs are sprouting up in hospitals for pain management, in prisons for inmate reform, and in military, police, and emergency response settings to help handle intense situations and recover from PTSD.
These techniques are used as a support in psychotherapy-for addiction and trauma recovery, defusing self-sabotage, increasing self-awareness, and taming self-criticism. They are increasingly sought after for dealing with the stress of living in our fast-paced, threat-sensitive world. To feed this demand, countless apps promise to bestow the benefits of these practices at the push of a button.
Yet, with the rise in popularity of mindfulness and meditation, I've begun to see some contrarian headlines, such as "New Study Shows Meditation Doesn't Make You Happier, More Creative," "Meditation Not a Panacea," or "Christians Should Be Wary of Meditation."
As a meditation teacher, I hear beginning students say things like:
• "Meditation was supposed to be relaxing-but it made me irritated."
• "Meditation was supposed to feel good, but it made me more stressed out."
• "I thought meditation would help me sleep, but it gave me nightmares."
• "I thought meditation was supposed to help me accept myself, but it made me more self-critical."
• "I am more aware of my impulsiveness than ever. How is this helping me?"
What's going on here?
(Hint: Meditation doesn't "make these things happen." It reveals them. Meditation and mindfulness make you more aware of what's happening in your subconscious mind.)
Let's demystify meditation and mindfulness by defining them clearly, so you can assess their function and effectiveness, understand misconceptions, and avoid dangers and potential pitfalls.
Meditation and Mindfulness Defined
By meditation I mean, "Mindfully focusing your attention on a specific focal object for a period of time." It's about training your mind to consciously focus your attention. It's that straightforward.
A focal object in meditation can be the sensations of breathing, a mantra or focusing phrase, the stream of your thoughts and feelings, the presence of God, a blank wall, or a candle flame. Focusing on chosen focal objects develops your ability to pay attention, be present, and fully engage with what you are doing.
"Mindfully" in the definition means that you exercise "mindfulness" during meditation. Mindfulness means, "paying attention, on purpose, in the present moment, without judgment." In other words, you adopt the attitude of a curious observer, just noticing what is happening without judging it as "good or bad." A non-judgmental attitude enables you to see more clearly, instead of reacting from fear, bias, or prejudice-which distort insight.
To sum up, "meditation" is an attention-training technique and "mindfulness" is an effective attitude for practicing this technique. You could also say that meditation is an opportunity to practice mindfulness. Together, meditation and mindfulness give you a deeper understanding of how your mind works.
Here's how it goes in practice:
As you meditate on a specific focal object, you notice moments when your mind wanders off to other things-such as an argument you had yesterday, a childhood memory, a presentation you have later today, or what you might have for lunch. Mindfulness enables you to recognize when and where your mind wanders, accept this as something a busy mind does, and gently return your attention to your chosen focal object.
During meditation, you will have a whole host of different thoughts and feelings. Some may feel good: some may scare you. Mindfulness treats them all the same-as passing bits of information. Using mindfulness, you come to realize that all thoughts and feelings come and go. They offer information, but they are no more substantial than that. They are nothing to be afraid of when you approach them mindfully. This insight can free you from anxiety about what is going on inside you.
The 3Rs of Meditation
I call the process of managing your mind during meditation the 3Rs: Recognize, Release, and Return. You recognize when you have wandered from your point of focus, release paying attention to that "distraction," and return to your chosen object of attention. It's that simple.
However, like any learned skill, it can be challenging at first. You may find your mind wanders most of the time. You may find yourself caught up in negative thoughts and feelings. You may find yourself irritated, self-critical, bored, or wondering if you're doing it right-or if you're doing anything at all!
That's OK. Recognizing all of this is part of meditation. Meditation increases awareness. You do this by mindfully focusing your attention, recognizing and accepting what your mind does, releasing distractions, and returning to your chosen focus-again and again and again.
As you repeat this process, you develop a sense of ease with managing your thoughts and feelings and a freedom to choose what you focus on and what you release. By practicing mindfulness during meditation, you grow your ability to relate to all kinds of moments in your life with greater freedom and ease.
Further Benefits of Practice
As you meditate for a period of time (say 10-20 minutes) consistently, your mind quiets down, your emotions calm, and your body relaxes. You de-pressurize, let go of over-thinking, and release built-up stress. As you release stress, energy is freed up that your body and mind use to recover, repair, integrate, and heal.
You start to feel like yourself again. You realize that "who you are" is much more than "the chatter" in your mind or the emotions that can "take you over." You are a deeper witnessing presence who "has" thoughts, feelings, and experiences, but is not defined by them. This can be a life-altering discovery!
These benefits don't happen because you are trying to clear your mind, they happen as a result of practicing the 3Rs. As you practice consistently, you develop the skills of recognizing where your mind is focused, releasing what is not serving you or others, and returning to what matters most.
These are invaluable skills that serve you in anything you want to do, overcome, or accomplish. I would go so far as to say they are fundamental skills you need to live your life well. Why, then, weren't you taught these essential skills in school when you were young? Regardless of the reasons, at any age, you can learn them with a few simple instructions, insight into how they work, and consistent practice.
Personally, I like to practice first thing in the morning. For much of my life, I woke up feeling anxious about what I had to do in the day ahead. Yet, now, no matter how I feel when I wake up, I feel relaxed and centered after my morning practice. I have a calm reference point I can return to when I get irritated or stressed out, caught up in negativity, or feel overwhelmed by what's happening in the world around me.
Why Meditation and Mindfulness Are Especially Important These Days
Today there are infinite demands on our time, energy, and attention-and they call to us 24/7-making us feel as if we always need to be doing something productive. We feel compelled to respond instantly on social media and gather a steady stream of tantalizing bits of information to keep us informed and amused. Even entertainment becomes a "must-do" as we feel compelled to binge-watch to get "caught up" on as much enjoyment as possible in our "free-time."
Yet always being "on the go" is not healthy.
Our bodies and brains are not made to run in constant overdrive. We are designed to engage in activity, then to rest and recover from what we've done. In our downtime, our body repairs itself, integrates all that we've experienced, and heals cellular damage we've sustained.
If we don't honor this balance, our systems go haywire. We get exhausted, hold increasing levels of tension in our bodies, and become persistently anxious or depressed. In this "overcooked" state, we invite the host of chronic illnesses like cancer, heart disease, and auto-immune disorders that are epidemic.
Meditation is a structured time-out from all this activity, so you can focus inwardly, rest, and recover. At first, it may feel like "doing nothing," but, as we've seen, the process is a gentle, yet active, training of your mind. It allows you to step back from the frantic pace of life, consciously unwind, and observe what's going on inside.
Meditation and mindfulness reveal your inner workings. They uncover the subconscious biases that lead to arguments, poor judgment, and bad decisions. They shine a light on habits that drive unwanted results in your life. They help you more objectively observe what you are doing, so you can consciously choose healthy habits and let go of unhealthy ones.
Maybe most importantly for us in this hyper-driven consumer culture, they encourage us to slow down, take a deep breath, and pay attention to the relationships, gifts, and opportunities we already have, rather than always trying to be, have, and do more.
Conclusion: Are Meditation and Mindfulness Dangerous?
Are meditation and mindfulness dangerous? Yes. They threaten to make you more conscious and intentional. They are dangerous to your negative thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and beliefs. They release the stifling grip of fear, bias, and prejudice. They shine a light on what needs to change.
By practicing mindfulness in meditation, you learn to evaluate all sides of any situation more objectively, so you can make better decisions. You recognize what no longer serves you and others, so you can shift your time, energy, and attention to what does. And, you become more present, focused, and fully engaged in your experiences, so you live a richer, more purposeful life.

Four Essentials to Maintaining a Healthy Mind
Our Mind is one of our most precious possessions; it's also a possession that is easy to take for granted.
Rarely as human beings do we take stock and hold inventory of our thoughts and perpetual mediations.
But this simple habit can mean the difference between a healthy productive mind, operating at optimum, a servant able to enable the manifestation of our destiny. Or a troubled storm-torn vessel, unable to assist us is in the vicissitudes of life.
In this article, I want to highlight four main elements I feel will be deeply useful to consider when we are endeavoring to corral our minds in the direction that will produce the most desired results.
To further lay emphasis on the opportunity we have before us, I would have you consider the fact that a healthy mind more often than not is fundamental to a healthy body. A healthy mind enables us to think creatively and circumstances will invariably bend to the upbeat attitude of a healthy mind.
A healthy mind will attract to it not only healthy circumstances but also healthy company. It's been said bad company corrupts good habits. I charge we should choose our thoughts as carefully as we choose our friends and vice versa.
Our thoughts will either take us to our desired destination, or plunge us to our dreaded fates. Our thoughts will ennoble us to feats of courage and determination or rob us of vital energy when life requires an extra push.
Let's look together at the four things that can greatly improve our thought life and enable our minds to maintain a healthy virile tone that will infuse all of life with purpose, meaning, worth and peace.
Attitude:
Let's begin with attitude; it's been said that in all of life's happenings, the one thing we can choose is our attitude. A negative attitude is one of the surest ways to eschew destruction through our whole system and destroy productive relations with our fellows. Even if we attract many other negative people to our pity party, the ensuing conversations will be so detrimental, we can be sure no positive thing can result. Likewise, when we choose in the face of a negative appearing circumstance a positive response, the lessons in the circumstance are learnt, the pain quickly passes and we are ennobled, energized, invigorated. And by default, those we come in contact with will reap the benefits.
Self Esteem:
A positive attitude is hard to maintain without a healthy self-esteem. Self-esteem is something so deep it affects our thoughts immensely. First please realize that who you are has tremendous value and worth. You may have been told otherwise all your life, and circumstances may have conspired together to compound this notion. But please stop and look into the mirror, tell yourself you love yourself, tell yourself you forgive yourself, tell yourself that you are the most valuable possession you have at your disposal, and invest in yourself. Allow you're self to change all the destructive self-loathing thoughts; they won't help you or those around you. The moment you accept yourself and see your worth and invest in yourself the world will become a better place.
Meditation:
The next key thought I want to cover is our mediation, our constant mental fixations, what do we spend our time thinking about? Amidst the various pressures and circumstances, life poses, beneath the surface can be a volcano of anxieties, concerns and misgivings. If we don't discipline our minds and choose to maintain focus our lives can become bogged down in a mire of frustration from which we long to escape. It's very important in life to have a vision. Take time to really consider your aims, purpose and reasons for doing what you do. Allow the sometimes disorienting process of change to operate in your life; be prepared to jettison dead weights that are stifling your progress. Establish your destination, and as you press towards it maintain a healthy meditation on your focus. When anxieties arise meditate on your focus. When you go to bed and when you rise, meditate on your focus. And you will find your thoughts steering your mind which in turn will steer your course and you'll make it.
Courage:
And last but by no means least I hope this final thought will add the so needed Icing to the cake; Courage. We addressed anxiety which is a form of fear. Fearful thoughts seek to paralyze our best efforts and sabotage our endeavors. Whether it is a case of self-doubt or the fear of people, apparently insurmountable obstacles or the great unknown. I encourage you to add courage to your arsenal of productive thoughts. Believe you can achieve and you will. Be brave enough to believe you have value despite naysayers. Press beyond the dead past and enter the yet unseen future, confident your going to make it, and life will bend to your faith.
Ultimately choose your attitude, recognize your intrinsic value. Take stock of your daily meditations and focus on your vision and purpose, and rise to life's challenges beginning in your mind, with the courage of believing thoughts and hopeful expectations. And you'll maintain a healthy mind that will serve you throughout your life.

Self-image - Boost Your Self-image in 5 Simple Steps
Never voice an opinion of yourself that is less than spectacular. Any sentiment less than extraordinary or amazing about yourself, you must refrain from verbalizing it. Expressions become impressions. Every time you express views about yourself, those views become impressed, imprinted, inscribed... tattooed onto your self-image and onto others' minds.
People usually repeat what they hear. So if they are going to hear something from you, about you, make it breathtaking. Make it...worth repeating. Remember this...your words are tattooists. Choose them carefully... for their scars can last a lifetime.
Here are some simple things you can do to make sure your words are painting a beautiful self-portrait.
1. Describe Yourself: Ask yourself "What has been the most empowering description of myself that I have ever heard?" Write it down and repeat it throughout the day. If you are not happy with it, make up a description of yourself that will empower you and repeat it frequently.
2. Powerful Words: Since you are carving your day and life with words why not be very selective on the words you use. Incorporate these words today in every interaction or thought you have: Wonderful, uplifted, invincible, courageous, passionate, loving, compassionate, astounding, determined, miraculous, committed, stupendous.
3. Develop a Habit: You have probably heard that it takes twenty-one days to develop a new habit. But have you ever consciously counted the days you tried to implement a new habit? Here is a good opportunity. For the next twenty-one days repeat frequently that powerful statement that describes you (tip number 1) and consciously make yourself use those powerful words (tip number two) in every interaction. Do this for twenty-one days and see how your life will change.
4. Think Before You Speak: You have the power to build or destroy, to make things, incidents, and people more beautiful than they are or uglier...you can create a masterpiece everywhere you go or a disaster. Your words give you a lot more power than you think. Next time you are going to express your opinion about something, someone, or even yourself think before you speak. Expressions become impressions.
5. Change Others' Lives: It is not a miracle, it's called imitation. We all do it. If you spend enough time with another person, you will eventually start resembling that person. Take a look at your spouse, siblings, or people you spend lots of time with. Chances are you use similar expressions, body movements, gestures and even words. So this means that you won't only impact your life when you choose to use powerful words but also that of others that you care and love.
Affirm This Statement:
I vocalize only words that empower, invigorate, and compel the best to emerge. My words exhilarate.

Be Authentic - Love Who You Are, Flaws and All
You are one of a kind! No two people in the entire world are the same. Both good and bad past life experiences have made you who you are today. The good times have helped you learn happiness, compassion, and love. Even the difficult and grueling times in life have taught you strength and perseverance. Be authentic to you and honor your self as the unique being that you are, flaws and all.
So often, we tend to compare ourselves to others and this is so unfair. By comparing yourself to others, you do yourself a huge injustice because again, no two people are the same. Only you know the life you've lived and the lessons in life that you've learned. No other person on this earth has lived and learned, or are still learning to follow their path exactly the way you are today.
As an example, in the car dealership world, you can pick up a new car for the same price as everyone else. There's not much wiggle room when there are about a hundred of them on the lot with only one or two tiny differences. But if you're looking for a used car, you can be certain that you're going to pay top dollar because there are no two used cars that are the same and the dealership knows this. They play on that so that you love this car and when there are no others like it here or down the road, you'll pay more for it. You as a person are no different. Treasure yourself, your uniqueness and even your flaws, because they too, are what make you who you are.
Be authentic and accepting of yourself, flaws and all. If there's something you truly want to change, then do it, but love and accept yourself in the process. No one has lived what you lived, so you've earned it! Truly, each of us is our own worst critic and it certainly takes courage and self-respect to accept ourselves completely. See your value, take responsibility for who you are, the way you live, and your own happiness!
Nicole Lawler will show you different healing modalities for your mind, body & spirit. At the end of the day, it's all about loving and healing YOU!

In this article, I want to highlight four main elements I feel will be deeply useful to consider when we are endeavouring to corral our minds in the direction that will produce the most desired results.
Our thoughts will either take us to our desired destination or plunge us to our dreaded fates.
Likewise, when we choose in the face of a negative appearing circumstance a positive response, the lessons in the circumstance are learnt, the pain quickly passes and we are ennobled, energised, invigorated. And by default, those we come in contact with will reap the benefits.
Self Esteem:
A positive attitude is hard to maintain without a healthy self-esteem. Self-esteem is something so deep it affects our thoughts immensely. First please realise that who you have tremendous value and worth. You may have been told otherwise all your life, and circumstances may have conspired together to compound this notion. But please stop and look into the mirror, tell yourself you love yourself, tell yourself you forgive yourself, tell yourself that you are the most valuable possession you have at your disposal, and invest in yourself. Allow your self to change all the destructive self-loathing thoughts; they won't help you or those around you.
It's very important in life to have vision.
Fearful thoughts seek to paralyse our best efforts and sabotage our endeavours. Whether it is a case of self-doubt or the fear of people, apparently insurmountable obstacles or the great unknown. I encourage you to add courage to your arsenal of productive thoughts. Believe you can achieve and you will. Be brave enough to believe you have value despite naysayers. Press beyond the dead past and enter the yet unseen future, confidence you're going to make it, and life will bend to your faith.
Ultimately choose your attitude, recognise your intrinsic value. Take stock of your daily meditations and focus on your vision and purpose, and rise to life's challenges beginning in your mind, with the courage of believing thoughts and hopeful expectations. And you'll maintain a healthy mind that will serve you throughout your life.

You Need To Retrain Your Mind To Fulfill Your Dreams And Ambitions
You Need To Retrain Your Mind To Fulfill Your Dreams And Ambitions
The majority of people are unaware that they are sometimes controlled by internal beliefs and thought patterns that were long-ago established as an effective way to live one's life. However, in current day circumstances, they sabotage achieving goals.
The fact is, all of us possess self-sabotaging elements that can manifest at any time and in a variety of ways. This not-so-silent enemy within usually remains in stealth mode despite its repeated pattern of interference with our own self-declared desires.
However, I hasten to add that long before you were fully aware of life's vicissitudes, you were indoctrinated and conditioned to believe and act in certain ways.
Self-destructive patterns are best described as "Behavior that creates problems and interferes with long-standing goals.' The most common self-sabotaging behaviors are procrastination, self-medication with illegal drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, comfort eating-resulting in weight gain, self-injury and lack of self-confidence. While these acts might seem helpful in the moment, you ultimately undermine your Self, especially when you engage in them repeatedly."
What prompts people to continue these 'click-whirl' internal self-sabotaging behaviors that betray one's best intentions? The psychological construct is the result of a defense strategy for many experiences that engendered feelings that weren't processed. These experiences can be as simple as something that prompted a feeling of rejection, a feeling of being unworthy, unimportant, and the list goes on. For example, a person who has difficulty smiling or laughing is considered stoic. While being stoic in some circumstances is a virtue, it is also a deterrent to ones social life. People who are socially stoic are often perceived to be a bore with no sense of humor.
What are these 'click-whirl' internal self-destructive mechanisms that betray our best intentions? Technically, most of them arise as a result of a defense strategy. They can be as simple as something we do to avoid rejection that is the result of an embarrassing childhood experience. For example, a man who simply didn't laugh. Indeed, Sam (not his real name) was unable to even fully smile. His wife and friends thought of him as stoic and that was fine with Sam until he discovered that he was often not invited to events because of his lack of humor. When he made inquiries regarding this, Sam discovered that others found him to be a bore who could wilt the humor in any party. Sam was crushed to learn his inability to be jovial or laugh was costing him and his wife social enjoyment.
Sam decided to discover what prompted him to behave this way. Searching the Internet he found my website. Together we began the journey to discover the emotional/mental wounds that prompted him to be stoic without smiling or laughing.
Sam discovered a childhood event that led to his inability to relax and laugh. He related to the humor in many things, but he withheld his expression because when he was young other children had mocked him for the way he laughed, and for his "crooked" smile.
Sam did not consciously tell himself something such as, "Build a defense mechanism that prevents me from being ridiculed in the future because of my laugh." Albeit, that's what his unconscious mind managed for him. It is, after all, the job of a healthy unconscious mind to protect us. Thus, Sam's automatic mechanism, with 'click-whirl' precision, simply arrested his expression of humor to protect him from ridicule. And this unconscious automatic mechanism remained in place until Sam made his discovery, and accepted a set of new thoughts to prompt, smiling, laughing humorous responses.
This is a simple example of how a defense mechanism that worked then is sabotaging life now. However, there are also very compound and complex mechanisms that can arise for many reasons including compensation.
It is a human trait, as the herd animals that many people are, to seek acceptance and avoid rejection. It is also a human trait to compete for attention or in the alternative, to adopt low to non-competitive strategies as a pattern of avoidance. For some, both of these patterns can be operational and activated at different times under different circumstances.
The bottom line is, many people have unknown self-sabotaging mechanisms of some sort that raises its ugly head from time to time, and that is why certain goals can remain unattainable despite one's best efforts.
Eliminating self-sabotage is a primary step in getting your house (life) in order. In at least one sense, ending self-destructive patterns is the weeding out of ideas and behaviors that prevent you from achieving all that you are otherwise capable of enjoying. As such, the path to success requires the elimination of self-destructive behavior patterns, and the best tool to assist you in this process is discovering your InnerTalk: Eliminating Self-Sabotage.
Recognize Patterns:
The objective of the path to ending self-sabotage begins by recognizing that you possess this potential. By pursuing its possibilities, you begin to recognize patterns of behavior that have common antecedents. Diligently attending to your thoughts often reveals inner beliefs, biases, and the like that you do not wish to continue to own. Strengthening your resolve for deliberation you gain more control over self-regulation. Each time you are successful at halting an automatic mechanism pattern, you begin to eliminate the pattern and thereby end the habit.
A New Year has historically prompted people to decide to make changes. Thus, the practice of deciding to make changes at the beginning of a New Year became known as New Year's Resolutions.
Unfortunately and typically the majority of people fail to complete their resolutions. The University of Scranton research suggests that approximately 8% of people achieve their New Year's resolutions. Some studies reveal that more than 40% of Americans-make New Year's resolutions. (For comparison, about one-third of Americans watch the Super Bowl.)
When you intend to be successful changing your life, then remember this:
In order to fulfill your dreams and ambitions, you need to take the time to retrain your mind. Your mind was properly trained to do what you are doing now. You need to discover what drives your self-sabotage and bring in the support you need to develop a strategy and implement the change to create your success.
"We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." - Albert Einstein
"What were you thinking?" has become a well-worn cliché. However, it has merit, because we function from our beliefs (thinking). Therefore, our beliefs need to be accessed at the unconscious level and replaced with beliefs that will propel successful endeavors.*
This moment is the first moment of the rest of your life. You can harness your unconscious mind to create what many people call magic!
Are you willing to take the steps required to claim your happiness, success, fulfillment, and financial freedom? Will you take advantage of the opportunity to create a new reality for your life?
It's time to SHIFT and get prepared for what's coming up for your life... so I want you to put your heart and soul into paying close attention to how much mental, emotional and physical pain you are in. Then, step by step you can make the SHIFT gently, easily, and without having to deal with the mental and emotional pain and stress of not knowing what to do, not feeling your best, and all the other OLD WAYS that are holding you back.
You might need to ask for assistance to clear out the self-doubt, fear, guilt, shame or unworthiness-i.e. the beliefs that sabotage your success.
Here's to living your dream life NOW.
There is no shame in asking for assistance to create happiness and success. If you have read the books, taken workshops, had psychic readings, taken Prescriptions, and OTC drugs etc. and still struggle; you might have emotional blocks preventing you from moving into your happiness and desires.
This is an investment in your health, happiness, success, fulfillment, and financial freedom. Following the principles in this process will change your life forever and I want you to experience it yourself as soon as possible.
Remember only you can take care of your happiness and emotional, physical and spiritual health.

Mastering Abundance And Prosperity Mindset Part 1
Mastering Abundance And Prosperity Mindset Part 1 |
It is now known that you can build new neural pathways in your brain with constant focus. The most efficient way of achieving change is with meditation using guided imagery and visualization and now scientists have strongly suggested that this can be applied to financial success.
In their book, How God Changes Your Brain, researchers Andrew Newberg neuroscientist, and Mark Robert Waldman therapist, have shown that in their words: the more you meditate on a specific object"be it, God, or peace or financial success" the more active your thalamus becomes, until it reaches a point of stimulation where it perceives thoughts in the same way that other sensations are perceived. In other words, until it becomes part of your Comfort Zone and your reality. The aim, for those wishing to achieve financial success, is to visualize financial success clearly in your mind so that this vision actually changes your brain.
This Mind Matters News and the next one are about increasing Abundance and Prosperity and address the mental barriers and subconscious limiting beliefs holding us back from achieving this. The Wealth Pack (including explanation, goals, and meditations) is available to buy from the CALM Shop both as a download and also as two CDs.
We Can Easily Sabotage Ourselves
If our mind is filled with fears, doubts, expectations, intentions, values, and beliefs that contradict any financial goal we have then this will directly affect any financial outcome. You can experience fears of success or failure, trying and failing, not being good enough all causing stress and anxiety. All this negativity which is deeply embedded in the subconscious mind will behave as negative habits and sabotage us in our endeavors. We need to change our inner paradigm to be able to change our outer financial reality.

Some Limiting Personal Beliefs Can Help To Create Poverty Seminar
It takes money to get money
Best things in life are free
Money is the root of all evil
Money = too much responsibility
I am not worthy
Takes hard work to earn money
Can’t take it with you
Money isn’t everything
Need training/education
Money isn’t spiritual
Can’t buy love
My karma is to be poor
A Camel cannot pass through the eye of a needle
Think about your business for a moment. Is working harder and longer the key to being more financially successful? You will probably answer No but what do you really believe? If your subconscious mind really believes you need to work harder, then guess what that’s what you will consistently do in an effort to be more financially successful.
Your Upbringing
What about your upbringing and your parents’ thoughts about money! Research has shown that if you have (or had) parents or grandparents who were brought up in the Depression and had the attitude of never spend money until you have it to spend that the offspring (and their offspring) would do one of two things: either reject what they were taught and do the extreme opposite having as many credit cards as possible or never spend money until they had it to spend. There seemed to be no middle ground. I am reminded of that often made a statement to children we can’t afford it! You can see the consequences of that statement. A better answer is we choose not to buy that right now.
Remember that your conscious mind acts upon what you have in the subconscious so it will form evidence and opinions which support the subconscious beliefs, even though you don’t want the belief. Once you have a belief embedded in the subconscious, which then is deep in your memory, you will act on it just like a habit until you have changed the neural pathway and the memory.
In John Assaraf’s words, we all have C.R.A.P. Conflicts, Resistance, Anxiety, And Other Problems like procrastination and pessimism. Is it easy to change and can we do it? Yes, Sandy has been teaching this since 1989 and tens of thousands of people have successfully learned the techniques. Is there resistance to change? Of course, what is procrastination and pessimism if it is not resistance?
Remember, the job of the subconscious mind is to keep you where you are, that is with all the habits and beliefs that you have right now. So, of course, it will fight our every effort to achieve success. However with the mind in the Alpha and Theta state using goals and meditation we can succeed in changing the old neural pathways to be the ones we want.
What Are You Worth?
How much money per year do you believe you are worth? Is it $50,000 or $100,000 or more? If you have a defined figure, know that implicitly your brain will keep you there. It will not be interested in any actions that suggest that you are worth more or make more. Neural Resonance is when your conscious mind (12%) and your subconscious mind (88%) are in sync with each other this means your brain is working for you and not in conflict. So what is the best course of thought as far as your earning power is concerned? Don’t have a ceiling that sells you short!
Neuroscience research has confirmed that if you have a ceiling as to your ability to make money this very fact is sufficient to make you feel stuck. John Assaraf calls this your Expectancy Point.
Your Expectancy Point
Assaraf says One of the most fascinating discoveries in brain research is that over time, deep within your implicit brain, you develop your own personal Expectancy Points,’ such as where you expect’ your income to be, the kind of car you expect to drive, whether you expect to have a lifestyle of luxury or more-of-the-same, even things such as your normal’ weight, whether you expect to live past a certain age and the dynamics of your relationships.
There is not much sense in having an expectancy point’ which doesn’t serve you if you don’t want to maintain your current normal’ level. If you attempt only consciously to increase your expectancy point you will continue to be dragged back to what has been until now your normal’ level. Why? Because your subconscious mind with its neural pathway of your normal’ level drags you back again and so you feel trapped! You have probably been using all sorts of beliefs, habits and oh-so-many excuses to maintain your expectancy point’, yet this is all done unconsciously as it is within your comfort zone. Your conscious mind might try to argue that of course you want a higher expectancy point but really it is your so much more powerful subconscious mind which is driving you.
Can this be changed? Can you prevent your expectancy point from holding you back? Absolutely! You have the ability to use neuroscience to your advantage and put in a new neural pathway and hence increase your ceiling work towards a new expectancy point in your subconscious which, when you think like that, will also be in your conscious mind. Both your minds are then on the same track!
The word Abundance has been used deliberately. As has been stated before, when we are abundant, we have enough. It can be applied to many things in life love, money, health, relationships, humor, compassion, to name a few. It can often be in conflict with money and that is why it is important to have a life purpose and work towards that purpose with balanced goals (not all the effort going on money) then you will truly Create Happiness Intentionally. That is the purpose of the CHI 5 day/4 night live in Seminar.
So, know that whatever negative habits, limiting beliefs, lack of self-worth, inherited challenges or low expectancy points you may have, in working towards Abundance and Prosperity, there is a scientifically proven way of changing these negative neural pathways and establishing new ones which will assist you.

Using Your Subconscious Mind
Using Your Subconscious Mind
When it comes to the subconscious mind many of us have heard of it, however, we have no idea on how to use it to benefit our lives. It has been said we have been given this wonderful gift of the human mind however we were not given an instruction book at birth on how to use it.
Therefore, our minds, more importantly, our subconscious minds are left to be programmed by others when we are growing up and therefore end up picking up the beliefs that either our parents have, or other family members and teachers expound on for example.
Unfortunately, many of them may be carrying their own limiting self-belief patterns and ultimately end up passing them to you.
We as adults they continue to carry these beliefs that we were taught without any knowledge how it affects our success and failures in life.
The sooner we understand the power of our subconscious minds and how to take control over it and reprogram it for success rather than failure for instance, the sooner we get our lives on track and learn to create our own destinies in a positive way.
The subconscious mind is neutral in how it operates, it is just following what has been previously programmed into it through suggestion, and repetition of our thoughts for example.
Our habits that we have are controlled by our subconscious minds for example and the power that it possesses makes it hard to quit these habits.
If you want a perfect example of a hard habit to break that is controlled by the subconscious mind, just ask someone who smokes and let them explain to you the difficulty in stopping the smoking habit.
Willpower will not break these habits alone, we have to use a different approach with the subconscious. Two of the areas that are often used is visualization and repeated verbal affirmations to help influence this part of the human mind.
Visualization has been around for centuries and is used quite often by everyone from CEOs of major corporations to professional athletes. Many of us use visualization in ours and do not even know it.
To influence your subconscious and make it work for you when it comes to achieving a major goal you want to achieve or, prepare for public speaking engagement, for instance, position yourself somewhere comfortable and close your eyes and see yourself performing the appointed task or completing the goal you are working for and visualize what the finished product will look like.
This is a process that takes only a few minutes a day and is best performed when you are relaxed so that you can see in detail what you are envisioning. The more detail you can give your subconscious, the more efficient it becomes in bringing the desired results to fruition.
Repetition is the key here it will take time to permeate your mind and direct your subconscious to whatever you are trying to achieve.
Affirmations are another tool you can use to fill your subconscious mind with power directing thoughts. Affirmations can be stated out loud or you can use them in your self-talk that you use with yourself to slowly install the new belief you want to take place in your life.
The key to both visualization and the use of affirmations is repetition and using emotion. Your subconscious mind becomes highly receptive to those thoughts and ideas that are backed by emotion.
Using your subconscious mind to control your destiny in life takes practice, and repetition by starting with the two mental processes listed above.
Keep it simple but consistent, and remember, our subconscious does not care what you program into it, it will though always deliver what is planted inside of it which is done by your continual thoughts and your environment so choose it wisely.
